I wasn’t gonna write this, I was just gonna have my shitpost and move on, but it seems like a wider conversation was sparked and damn if I’m not gonna be a part of it! I always always say that I want to further the discussion, so here I am, trying to help further the discussion. Let me get my criticisms of this piece of trash out first though.
Starting with the obvious – the clickbaity title. Not only is this horribly low click-bait, even for Blaire’s standards, but it also puts the onus of being beaten up on trans women. As if it’s their own fault for “tricking men”. Of course, the video goes more into depth, and then cherry picks some really bad cherries to prove its point. Suffice to say the title doesn’t really line up with the video very well. Perhaps a better title would’ve been “Why I think you should disclose before getting intimate with someone?” Though that obviously doesn’t carry the same Blaire “cashgrab” White weight to it. Yet she wonders why people call her a shill, oh boy.
That’s the framing and the title out of the way – which is what I initially shitposted about on the Twitters. Now onto some more of the juicy bits of my criticisms.
There are probably more that’s just what I found from like… 2 minutes of Googling. Further proof that Blaire does not research anything. I’ll be discussing this in my post tomorrow which is actually going to be about disclosure.
Not to mention that, as far as I can see from the videos she shows in her video – none of them were beaten up, clearly disproving her idea. How can you say trans women get beat up because of X, then show a bunch of trans women who allegedly did X and didn’t get beat up and act like you proved a good point? It makes no sense to me.
Finally we get to my favourite of the criticisms and that’s the fact that the first time Blaire White talks about violence against trans women, to my knowledge, she focuses on the minority of the violence that occurs. Not the vast majority of violence against trans women, which happens because they’re out and/or visibly trans, which I can prove. She picks the one that she can blame trans women for because that’s what her audience want to hear, and judging by the comments you can see them revelling in the confirmation bias too. With some people saying that they too would rip the dicks off of trans women if they “tricked them”.
Truth is that this “tricking people” thing is a total myth. You can’t trick people by being yourself and them finding that attractive. They just found you attractive, no trick necessary.
“how do you even hide the fact you’re trans during sex?”
Not all trans women are non or pre-op dear. This is what a SRS vagina looks like:
Gee, wasn’t that easy to work out?
And this isn’t even to mention the vaginas of CAIS women – who have similar vaginas to trans women albeit, not surgically constructed. Though they provide the same function and look pretty similar. I’d post pictures but alas, they seem to all be of children and I don’t really want to get arrested – even despite it being FOR SCIENCE™. If you’re a CAIS, an adult, and want to send me an anonymous vagina pic for this please do! :p
Remember above where I said I could prove that violence against trans women largely happens because they’re “out” and/or visibly trans? Yeah? Time to actually do that proving thing now to show how actually dangerous Blaire White’s “just tell people you’re trans” thing can be. Unfortunately there is no easy to find list of trans women who were assaulted, but there is an easy to find list of unlawfully killed trans people. Lets go through them? I’ll even be fair and do it for just 2016, and only in the US. Lets see how many trans people got killed by tricking people huh?
Monica Loera, a 43-year-old Latina trans woman from North Austin, Texas was murdered on 22 January 2016. A man demanded entry to her home claiming to have forgotten his jacket; when she opened the door, he shot her. He was subsequently arrested. For days, both the media and police report identified her as a man and referred to her using her birth name. Loera was a sex worker; the killer was likely a client; he had been seen earlier leaving her home “patting his pockets”.
Nice, so that’s seemingly a premeditated murder of a trans sex worker – someone who likely advertised the fact that they were trans because its a niche market and how a lot of trans sex workers make money. What a trick!
(get it? Because… sex workers are sometimes called tricks? Spoiler: get used to that joke.)
Jasmine Sierra, a 52-year-old Latina trans woman from Bakersfield, California, was found dead in an apartment on 22 January, with her body showing signs of trauma and foul play according to police. Local media had identified her as male and used her birth name.
No word on how or who killed her from what I can see online. I don’t want to disrespect the dead, but looking at the pictures of her online? There’s not a lot of room for her to be “tricking” anyone. Just sayin’.
No word on this one either – though since she was in a motel I don’t think its unreasonable to assume sex work? Again, doubtful she tricked someone if she was a sex worker.
Stabbed in the street, in the neck and chest. Left to die. Not sure of the circumstances but I’m not sure she would’ve been getting intimate in the street.
Quartney Davia Dawsonn-Yochum, a 32-year-old trans woman of color, was murdered on 23 March, in Los Angeles. After a domestic dispute, she was out walking her dogs when a man came up to her and shot her in the head. The suspect was detained by a security guard and was subsequently arrested and charged.
Bitch was just walking her dog. Who was she tricking!?
Shante Thompson, a 34-year-old black transgender woman, was beaten and fatally shot in Houston, Texas on 11 April. Witnesses reported that she and a male friend were swarmed by a group of up to eight people on the side of a roadway in the Midtown area.
She sure did trick a lot of people this one huh!
Keyonna Blakeney, a 22-year-old black trans woman from Upper Marlboro, Maryland who had attended Bowie State University, was found dead in a hotel room in Rockville, Maryland on 16 April, with trauma to the upper body indicating she had been beaten and murdered. Police believed she was involved with prostitution.
Again, sex work. An area in which trans women are most likely to disclose because its literally how they attract customers. Its a shame that they were both sex worker and trans, because that’s a double whammy of “not a real person” and that enables people to do this kinda thing to them.
Reese/Reecey Walker, a 32-year-old black transgender woman from Wichita, Kansas, was stabbed to death in the evening of 1 May, in her Windridge apartment bedroom. A 16-year-old boy was arrested and booked into the Sedgwick County Jail on suspicion of second-degree murder. Her family hosted a candlelight vigil on Wednesday, 4 May, in front of her apartment as well as a Celebration of Life for her at her family’s home on Friday, 6 May.
Allegedly Reese tried to sexually assault the 16 year old. Though this was apparently out of character and hey, its just a dead tranny, whose gonna ask that many questions? They’re all just perverts and fetishists right?
Mercedes Successful, a 32-year-old black transgender woman was found dead in a Haines City, Florida parking lot on 15 May 2016, after being shot. Born in Jamaica, West Indies, she was an active member of the LGBT community in the United States.
This one was a drag artist, who had recently started clinical transition. She wasn’t wearing “women’s clothes” at the time of her murder. Yet some how apparently, she’s just tricking people right?
No word on the circumstances surrounding her murder. She borrowed a car from a friend and was never seen by her family alive again.
This one isn’t really a trans motivated crime at all as far as I can tell. She was shot as part of a robbery, still bloody sad though.
What’s even sadder is that this is one of the very few stories in this list that has any kind of justice.
Dee Whigham, a 25-year-old black trans woman who worked as a nurse, was stabbed to death in the face and body on 23 July in her hotel room in Biloxi, Mississippi, where she was staying with friends to see a rodeo. Police arrested a 20-year-old as the suspected killer.
He stabbed her 119 times with the majority of wounds to her face. He slit her throat three times. Just remember that.
This one shouldn’t be on the list tbh, she died of a drug overdose and hit her head on the way down.
Erykah/Erika Tijerina, a 36-year-old Latina trans woman, was found dead in her apartment in El Paso, Texas on 8 August 2016. A police officer who entered the apartment discovered “obvious signs of foul play”. Her sisters expressed belief that her death was a hate crime.
Sex worker, again. Allegedly murdered by another army dude too.
Rae’Lynn Thomas, a 28-year-old black trans woman, was shot twice in front of her mother, and then beaten to death by James Allen Byrd in Columbus, Ohio on 10 August, as she begged for her life. Byrd called her “the devil” and made transphobic comments. Her family called for the murder to be investigated as a hate crime, but Ohio hate crime statues do not cover gender identity.
I don’t even think I need to stress how this clearly isn’t about tricking people.
T.T. Saffore, a black trans woman, aged 26 or 27, from Chicago’s West Side was found murdered in Chicago’s Garfield Park the evening of 11 September 2016. Her throat had been cut and a knife was found nearby. According to a friend of T.T., Saffore got into an altercation on Madison Street with a younger trans woman who pulled a knife and allegedly said “I’m going to get you killed.” Saffore did not report the crime to the Chicago Police Department due to a fear of abuse from CPD officers towards trans women who live on the West Side. Major media outlets misgendered her.
Trans on trans violence. I don’t think anyone was tricked here.
Crystal Edmonds, a 32-year-old black trans woman, was killed in Baltimore on 16 September 2016.
Likely another sex worker, shot in the back of the head and left for dead on a sidewalk.
Jazz Alford, a 30-year-old black trans woman from North Carolina, was killed in her hotel room in Birmingham, Alabama on 23 September 2016. She was initially misgendered by the police, but her sister Toya Milan, also a trans woman, corrected the record as to her sister’s gender.
She stopped at the hotel because of problems with her car and was a sex working trans woman. Again, doubtful she had any intentions of tricking people.
Brandi Bledsoe, a 32-year-old black trans woman from Cleveland, Ohio, was found dead in a driveway on 8 October 2016. Her body, wearing only underwear with white plastic bags covering her head and hands. She was found by a 5-year-old boy.
No word on who killed her, yet another trans woman whose murder received no justice.
Noony Norwood, a 30-year-old transgender woman of color, was shot and killed on 5 November 2016 in Virginia. Police are investigating surveillance of a man leaving the scene. They are not yet clear about what the motive of the killer may have been.
India Monroe, a 29-year-old black trans woman, was found shot to death on 21 December, along with Mark Gray, 37, in a home in Newport News, Virginia. Local news reports at first identified Monroe as male. She was buried under her birth name, with her hair cut short and other facets of her appearance altered to make her look male. Newport News police have ruled Monroe’s death a homicide but are investigating it as a domestic incident, not a hate crime.
Likely not anything to do with being trans at all.
So lets go over the numbers? Of the 21 trans deaths/murders I posted here, lets look at how many we can rule out for having “tricked” people. I count 17 that we can pretty much confirm weren’t “tricking” people. One of which wasn’t a murder at all but a drug overdose and two of which appear to be unrelated to trans at all. Meaning we’re left with 4 that could possibly have been because someone felt deceived or tricked. However we have no evidence to actually suggest that at all, and so much evidence to the contrary that shows even being open and honest about being trans isn’t enough to stop you getting murdered.
This myth is bogus and by parroting it off to 300,000+ people on YouTube; what you’ve done is make the excuse on the behalf of people who would kill you for existing. You total fucking idiot. Yes, you should be cautious as a trans people, yes you should be careful, but you shouldn’t give creedence to the idea that trans people are responsible for their own deaths, which you totally did Blaire. Look at your stupid clickbait title and thumbnail.
Telling trans women to be more open and honest about being trans as if its some sort of infectious disease and we must warn people not to get too close in case they catch it is dangerous. Far more dangerous than picking your partners carefully and keeping the fact you’re trans to yourself. See the 16 above murders. These murders are just the tip of the iceberg, there are many trans women who survive beatings and stabbings and don’t end up on that list. Such as Chrissy Lee Polis; the trans woman in the McDonalds who was beat up for trying to pee. Or the trans woman who was hammered – no I mean literally, she was hit with a hammer. And this isnt even getting into the times that cis women have been assaulted because people thought they were trans.
Like holy shit, I get that this is your thing Blaire, you know… being an idiot and an edgelord. But holy shit could you not? Just for like… a little bit? That’d be super. I mean shit, you’re getting $1,300 a month from Patreon, plus ad revenue, plus all the money from your superchat donations and any “one-time” PayPal donations. Can you just maybe… lay off the make up and botched lip injections and afford your self some actual integrity? This is worse than Infowars lmao.
Glad I got that out of my system. Tomorrow I’ll write a post discussing my thoughts on disclosure as a trans woman. See you there buddies.
