Yes, after a one week twitter lock out, where all I could do was DM, after a 24 hour lock out and a 12 hour lock out I’m finally able to tweet again. Guttingly I missed all the drama around the British election, though I’m sure I’ll still find stuff to shitpost about all the same. I was banned because I called someone a sick freak for trying to slander me with accusations of sharing child porn on my pretty much entirely SFW Twitter account.
I’ve spoken out before about how I don’t like no platforming, you can check my thread on it if you don’t believe me. I really hate it and I think its counter-productive. It doesn’t kill the ideas it just sweeps them under the rug where they get to make friends with other shitty ideas and continue being shitting people. I’d much rather let those shitty ideas disperse into the open air where they are mocked and ridiculed. I do this with TERFs all the time.
Ths is basically what a Twitter ban amounts to. It’s someone petitioning the platform provider to remove someone from being able to speak on said platform. My ban was unjust and since it was one of many bans I’ve received because of radical feminists mass reporting people unfairly and abusing the twitter ban system; I lashed out in response. I found some tweets by the person who tried to slander me. I looked for racism or whatever I could use to abuse the ban system with.
And it worked.
I don’t feel great about it, I’d much rather not have got this guy banned, but really what option left if there? Talking to these people doesn’t work and they will, without hesitation, report you at the first chance they get. I’m on account number 7 as a result of this and I don’t really want to have to start account 8. Sometimes A great offence is the best defence from stuff like this, even if it seems counter to your values. I would never do this to anyone who didn’t try to get me banned all the time; and in some cases even brag about how they got me banned.
By harassing, they mean that time I had 30 followers and radical feminists dogpiled me, sending hundreds of notifications my way in minutes. Which was pretty daunting as such a small account. Ironically its this original dogpile that catapulted me into the small-fry notoriety, I enjoy now. My subsequent bans have been as a result of me being permanently banned and technically ban evading. Though if you remember, I campaigned for #Bansparency – I can’t tell for certain which tweets got me banned or why my original account was banned at all. For this reason I’d like to see more transparency in regards to Twitter bans – something which Wikileaks have recently (kinda) also spoken out about.
In which they basically describe this post right here, then threaten to start a rival service.
Its so frustrating, because all Twitter has to do is provide the tweets which got you banned and say which rules they broke. Then let you have a fair chance at putting them into a context that may lift your ban. That’s it. For example the tweet I reported to get that transvestite creep banned was him quoting someone a song that said “nigger nigger nigger nigger nigger” in it. It was totally an unjust and unfair ban. Absolutely unnecessary and I’m 100% aware that what I did was abuse the ban system. But that’s my point, that’s literally how easy it is to do.
To counter this all it would take is a few emails and it would be done. As it stands there is no system like this and the system that does exist is far too easy to abuse when you just don’t like someone. Regardless of whether they’ve actually broken a rule. All it takes is one out of context word and a few reports and boom. Locked down.
If the twitter ban system doesn’t shape up, if it doesn’t stop banning people for defending themselves against slander, it if doesn’t stop being so easy to abuse and get people banned then we’re going to continue seeing the same thing. People getting banned and the community falling to pieces as everyone just snipes at each other with anonymous ban requests. It’s going to be an absolute disaster which can be easily avoided by just… being transparent.
Anyway, while I was banned for a week I did a bunch of stuff I’ve been procrastinating from doing, I’m a little closer to starting that YouTube channel I’ve been promising, I did some work on my artwork so I’m no longer using someone else’s art as my avatar. Had some help from this dude for that because despite an art degree I’m terrible at art. I’m also now writing articles on Medium too. What a rollercoaster ride that is, the audience there is a little… histrionic. Planning to drop a part 2 to a little series I’m writing there if you’re interested. It’s on the future of trans medicine and which way we should work to take it?
Don’t forget to hype me up. See you on the Twitters. ❤
