It’s with great excitement, and also a tonne of regret that I announce Niantic’s new logo. The new logo incorporates the playerbase, so that nobody feels left out. Here’s the picture:
As you can see, it includes a representation of a Niantic employee, actually shitting on a representation of the Pokemon Go playerbase. Obviously this isn’t really their new logo, but it should be. After once again, Niantic have killed the scanners to lighten server load so they can release a broken game into more countries. Around forty more countries, to be more accurate. Not only this, but the scanner system they spoke about and demonstrated doesn’t work and is horribly broken – but have Niantic piped up to tell us about this? No. Want to know what we got instead of any news on the ability to actually hunt down Pokemon as promised in the trailers?
This. This method of making it easier to catch pokemon once you have received badges. Myself personally? I’ve got most of these badges to gold, so this feature doesn’t really affect me whatsoever. It’s a great feature for new players, to get them hooked and spending money on the game before they realise what a scam it is. Which what a surprise, they just released the game in 40 new countries! Plenty of new people to spend money on their broken game before they realise its broken as heck.
Niantic, please. You risk losing your entire player base if you keep treating us this way. I’ve already seen countless calls to boycott the game from big players who are mad as hell that you keep doing this to us, over and over again.
Stop shipping your broken game to new countries and fix it. THEN ship it to new countries. You can’t just keep dismantling the only reasons that people are still playing the game, just so you can release it into a new market. That’s not a sustainable way to keep this game running, and you won’t make it passed winter without SOME method of scanning. Or do you think people are just going to go for wild rambles through the god damn snow!?
No, we need to know we can go outside and track down a Pokemon fairly easily, right now its a total game of chance on whether you’re walking the right way. The only way to know for sure you’re not walking the right way is to walk so far away from a pokemon it disappears from your map. Then you gotta 180 and go back to find it. People will not do this as it gets colder. Your game and everything you’ve built this year will crumble and fall if you do not listen to your players, communicate with them or respect them at all.
I write this post as a fan, a passionate fan who watches videos about the game, gets involved with communities, and helps take part in the research of trying to work out how the game works. I’m not just writing this to be mean or funny, I truly want this game to succeed but I can’t see that happening with how Niantic are treating players. I will fully support a boycott if one picks up enough steam, because its gone too far. The way Niantic are treating us as players is a total joke.
